Bridal Hair

Bridal Hair
In this blog I will be discussing other hair styles and techniques that can help me with developing ideas and plans for my final designs when practicing a contemporary design. I also looked at different bridal hairstyles to find inspiration, as most bridal styles are quite complex. I started by looking at some bridal hair and came up with a ruff idea of what I wanted to do, I knew I wanted to create a messy but classy look and I thought a bun would be the best for this.

I started by sectioning the bottom half of the hair and using hair curlers curled each section of hair and pinning it into place, therefore leaving the hair to set into place while it cools (shown in the far left photo). To tie the whole look together I created a milkmaid braid around the top of the hair but leaving small strands of hair around the front of the head to frame the face. The milkmaid braid made the look, look more like a bridal which frame the head piece and almost acts as a headband. when having the milkmaid braid pinned into place I went back to the pin curls and unpinned each one creating a very thick and tight curl (shown in the far right picture).

Then when having the curls ready I then gathered the hair into a low ponytail to keep it into place and then sectioned it into three sections ready to create a low bun. To create the chignon when having the three sections, I took section by section and rolled it over into a curl like you would when pinning in heated curls. I did this to each section but left the ends of each section overhanging on top of the bun, which as the hair is a blonde ombre creates a really nice look. Lastly to finish the look I loosely curled the front pieces of hair which helped framed the face and then to finish off the look I gently pulled the hanging plaits as to create a messy look which I believed I achieved overall with this look.

Reflect:
To reflect on this look I believe I did achieve what I wanted which was a messy but bridal hairstyle. To improve I may have done this look in a different process as I did have some problems. I would have performed the milkmaid braid first as when doing this with the curls pinned in place. I found it very difficult to grab pieces of hair into a french braid as it was getting caught between the pins or I would accidentally pull the pin curls out. Overall I really enjoyed performing this styles and would love to include some of these element in my final Elizabethan design.
